Hot Weather Arrangements: Thursday 25th and Friday 26th June

 Dear Parents and Carers,

Hot Weather Arrangements: Thursday 25th and Friday 26th June

Thank you for your ongoing support and communication with us during this heatwave.

We have remained open today but have been regularly checking the temperature across different classrooms and spaces. We have closed the upstairs of the building and brought the students to downstairs classrooms where the temperature is more manageable.

However, as you may be aware, we are based in a Grade 2* listed building, which was built in 1826. The building was designed to retain heat, and it has been doing this very efficiently! Temperatures in the building this morning were 6 degrees higher than yesterday due to this and we expect it to be warmer tomorrow. At this point we have exhausted our mitigations and decided the safest decision is to completely close the school to all students on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th. We will re-open to students on Monday, when temperatures are expected to come back down to typical averages.

Staff will still be available for phone calls and teams’ meetings if you urgently need to speak to them. Please contact the staff member directly to arrange this.

If your child accesses Outreach sessions, these will continue but will be moved to teams. Your child’s teacher will contact you to discuss this with you directly.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. We hope to see everyone back in the building on Monday 29th June.

Yours sincerely,

Sam Johnson Head of Centre
