As we move into our second assessment period of the term, we would like to explain what this means for your child and how it supports their learning.
Why we assess
Assessment helps teachers see what your child knows and understands, celebrate the progress they have made, and spot any gaps that need extra support. It means teaching can be shaped around your child’s individual needs, giving them the best opportunity to succeed.
What happens over the next two weeks
During the final two weeks of term, teachers will take part in Pupil Progress Review meetings. In these meetings they will:
- Look carefully at each pupil’s assessment information
- Review the progress they have made
- Identify strengths and areas for development
- Set clear, achievable targets for the start of the new school year in September
These half-termly targets help pupils build on their successes while closing any gaps in their knowledge. Where extra support is needed, we will put it in place.
Your child’s report
Every pupil will receive a report detailing the progress they have made since joining us.
How you can help at home
- Talk with your child about their learning
- Celebrate their achievements
- Encourage them as they work towards their targets
The partnership between home and school plays a big part in helping children reach their full potential. Thank you for your continued support — together, we can make sure every pupil is well prepared for a successful start to the new school year.
